Front-end JavaScript Engineer
New York, NY or Tele-Commute
Double Prime, Inc., a 10-year old ecommerce company, has built and maintains approximately 80 global e-commerce and marketing websites for major Fortune 500 companies. The application layer is Apache/mod_Perl, with an oracle back end managed by another group. We have datacenters in the US, Korea, and China, e-commerce sites in the US, UK, France, Japan, and Australia, and are rapidly expanding into other markets.
We have a team of 60 full-time engineers, responsible for application development, network infrastructure, security, reporting, and other aspects of the business.
We are looking for several full-time engineers to join our team. This is a full-time W2 position with health benefits and 401k. Some roles are available as work-from-home (tele-commute from within the US) and others will be on site in NYC. We are only currently hiring in the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Oregon and California. No travel is required for this position.
Front-end developer requirements:
- Must have experience with object-oriented Javascript
- Mod_Perl experience a plus
- Must be proficient with HTML, CSS, and cross-browser issues
- Experience with the following JavaScript frameworks:
- Prototype (required)
- JQuery (required)
- Dojo (a plus)
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with front-end concepts:
- Must have Drupal Theming API, Drupal, JQuery and some php experience
- Structural
- HTML/CSS
- Thorough knowledge of DOM and CSS definitions and usage is required
- The ability to use JavaScript frameworks to examine and manipulate the DOM is required
- Must be experienced with debugging tools such as Firebug
- Knowledge of Perl is a plus

Back-end Perl/Mod_Perl Engineers

Most importantly, a thorough knowledge of OO perl is required. Beyond that, since we are looking for people to fulfill multiple roles, specifics are listed below.
NOTE: You need not fit all required skills in order to secure a position with our company - just one or more of them.
- Development and support of existing applications built in Mod_Perl
- Experience with client-side database operations via the Perl DBI
- Technical management and related tools (e.g. Bugzilla, RT, wiki)
- Knowledge of front end technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash)
- Systems administration functions such as unix account and groups, shell scripting, patching
- Network infrastructure, e.g. Cisco switches and firewalls, IPS, VPN
- Multiple language support in Perl (also the ability to speak multiple languages including German, French, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Korean, and others)
- 5 years experience with object-oriented Perl
- Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills
- Ability to lead engineering efforts on sizable website development projects
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills
- Apache/Mod_Perl and the Perl debugger
- Experience with international language support in Perl, unicode, utf-8, etc

Drupal Engineers

Drupal engineer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining software systems to support our clients’ projects in online marketing, e-commerce and mobile applications.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the full life-cycle of software development, including requirements gathering, estimating, development, testing and support
- Supporting customers’ integration of internally developed applications and commercial software
- Maintain awareness of trends in the fields of: web-based technology (including ecommerce), IT security and object oriented programming
- Ongoing Involvement in the larger Drupal community
- Assist in improving on all existing Drupal products
- Work with internal and 3rd party teams to support existing applications
- Become a subject matter expert on all things Drupal as it relates to existing application development, new development and support
Job Qualifications:
- Drupal
- Exceptional Drupal, PHP, and HTML skills (at least 2 years)
- Experience working on multi-website Drupal installations
- Experience building custom modules and themes
- Experience with Drupal on a shared hosting or multiple website implementation, highly desirable

- Competence with a wide range of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, XML) and frameworks (Drupal)
- Experience with a wide range of PHP content management systems and MVC frameworks
